Senior Manager - Operations Execution & Labor Planning - Seattle

The Operations Planning Team sits at the center of Nordstrom’s operations - aligning cross-functional plans and supporting critical decision-making tools and routines.  

Nordstrom (JWN) is seeking a highly motivated and goal-oriented Operations Execution and Labor Planning leader to join its Supply Chain Operations Planning team. In this role, you will lead cross-functional execution routines and labor planning capabilities   to deliver best in class operations results. This includes leading our labor planning team and a small team of program managers responsible for orchestrating cross-operations execution of our flow plans. You will partner with business stakeholders such as leaders across our FCs and DCs, transportation, store operations, finance, workforce management, and inventory planning, to proactively mitigate supply chain risks, align execution strategies, and ensure our customers have access to the right product, at the right place, and at the right time.   

The ideal candidate must be able to effectively work across all levels of the organization, serve as a trusted partner to leadership, and operate proactively to achieve consistent service levels across our supply chain network. Your business acumen, interpersonal skills, and ability to make data driven decisions and recommendations will be critical. This is an evolving space for Nordstrom, and our business is growing rapidly, so the ability to manage ambiguity and change will be a critical component for success. 

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE 

 

1.    Cross-functional Partnership and Influence: 

  • Drive JWN's operations cross-functional execution routines and processes, including weekly operations S&OE routines and peak season readiness programs.  

  • Foster collaboration and communication across departments to ensure alignment with overall business objectives, and decisive actions are taken as risks and opportunities arise. 

  • Regularly communicate health of the operations network, key risks and tradeoffs needed, and actions or support needed to sustain service level and cost performance. 

  • Lead monthly labor planning process and weekly staffing execution routines. 

2.    Process Optimization: 

  • Evaluate existing operations planning processes and systems to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. 

  • Lead and partner with cross-functional teams to redesign and optimize processes, implementing best practices and innovative solutions. 

3.    Performance Metrics and Analytics: 

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of operations planning transformation initiatives. 

  • Utilize data analytics to make informed decisions and continuously improve supply chain performance. 

4. Lead and Develop People: 

  • Ensure team members understand key priorities, leverage their strengths, and have the support needed to deliver results. 

  • Provides team members with valuable development activities and stretch assignments; and takes advantage of opportunities to provide specific, candid feedback. 

  • Foster a culture where all team members can thrive – one that sets a high bar, celebrates successes, and provides clear direction and feedback. 

YOU OWN THIS IF YOU HAVE… 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. 

  • 10+ years in supply chain leadership roles with a focus on planning and execution. 

  • Strong understanding of supply chain and retail planning processes (volume planning for warehouses, transportation, store operations; labor / headcount planning for warehousing), and industry (retail, consumer goods, apparel) best practices. 

  • Experience and familiarity with emerging technologies in operations planning and analytics (e.g., generative and agentic AI) 

  • Experience in successfully leading process and capability improvement initiatives. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Comfortable driving to decisions and working through ambiguity 

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and levels of the organization (from SVP down to managers / analysts) 

  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies and Microsoft Offices (powerpoint, excel, etc.)

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations. 
Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$131,500.00 - $210,500.00 Annual

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
