Senior Manager Merch Financial Planning - Hybrid (Seattle, WA)

The Sr. Merch Financial Manager role involves strategic planning, financial management, team leadership, strong cross functional relationships, and process improvement.  This role will contribute to organizational success by connecting product strategy to JWN financial outcomes (Sales, Margin, & Turn) thru data analysis, while leading process improvements, and supporting a team of financial planners.

 

A day in the life…

  • Partner with the Fin Director, Planning Director & Asst VP to define seasonal, annual and multi-year strategies that identify future opportunities and trends and produce competitive advantage and superior results
  • Develop and leverage a comprehensive understanding of how the customer strategy translates to the financial plans
  • Manage the financial planning calendar and direct the timely creation, review, re-projection and execution of pre-season and in-season plans
  • Effectively balance objective information with subjective inputs to provide guidance on opportunities for improving sales, inventory management and profitability to the merchandising teams.
  • Ensure financial planners develop executable financial plans for Stores & Digital
  • Ensure execution of strategies within the boundaries of financial plans including maintaining liquidity in their upfront and in-season plans
  • Direct and manage performance, scenario and ad hoc analysis focused on identifying business risks and opportunities and recommending course of action to reach goals and optimize performance
  • Develop and implement business process improvements by leveraging reporting and analysis, developing budget disciplines and applying consistent financial management practices
  • Participate in special projects as necessary including leading cost accounting transition with teams
  • Act as a change leader to support company initiatives and ensure adoption by merchandising team
  • Hire, develop, and train new financial planners in the division

You own this if you have…

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of retail planning/inventory management or related experience
  • Minimum of two years of retail buying experience
  • Minimum of one year of retail experience interacting directly with customers
  • Nordstrom experience preferred
  • Expertise in merchandise category
  • Demonstrated understanding of retail and the service environment of Nordstrom
  • Proficiency in MS Windows and Office suite
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations. 
Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$126,500.00 - $210,000.00 Annual

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
