We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead critical domains across Supply Chain Planning, Fulfillment Optimization, and Transportation Technology. This role sits at the intersection of speed, intelligence, and customer experience—foundational to Nordstrom’s company-wide Winning with Speed strategy.

Your teams build systems that directly influence hundreds of millions of dollars in annual spend, shape customer promise accuracy, and materially impact EBIT. This is a high-ownership leadership role where technology decisions translate directly into business outcomes.

A day in the life…

  • Creates an environment where engineers and leaders do their best work, grounded in trust, accountability, and growth

  • Sets and articulates a multi-year technical and organizational vision aligned to business strategy and customer outcomes

  • Leads and develops a leadership team of Engineering Managers and senior engineers; builds succession and talent pipelines

  • Owns delivery across complex domains including forecasting, fulfillment optimization, and transportation systems

  • Drives architectural decisions that balance innovation, scale, resiliency, and operational excellence

  • Partners deeply with Product, Data Science, and business leaders to translate strategy into executable roadmaps

  • Champions modern engineering practices, including cloud-native architecture, AI/ML adoption, and agile delivery

  • Navigates vendor partnerships and platform ecosystems to maximize business value

  • Measures success through clear business impact: customer experience, speed, cost efficiency, and financial results

You own this if you have…

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering or technology roles

  • 5+ years leading managers and senior technical leaders in large-scale, complex environments

  • 5+ years of Retail, supply chain, logistics, or fulfillment domain experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • Demonstrated success shaping and delivering multi-year technology strategies tied to business outcomes

  • Strong technical judgment with experience guiding architecture across distributed systems

  • Proven ability to influence across Product, Operations, and Executive stakeholders

  • A track record of building inclusive, high-performing teams and developing leaders

  • Experience working with third-party platforms, vendors, or large technology ecosystems

  • Experience operationalizing AI/ML or advanced analytics in production environments (preferred)

$200,500.00 - $332,000.00 Annual

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
