We are seeking a dynamic Community Engagement Senior Specialist to join our team. This role will support Nordstrom's community and employee engagement efforts by building strong relationships with community partners, driving employee engagement with charitable organizations, and creating meaningful community connections for our customers. The ideal candidate will be passionate about social impact, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and have experience managing cross-functional relationships to execute impactful initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Community Engagement Strategy:
Support and execute a comprehensive community engagement strategy that aligns with Nordstrom’s Social Impact and Engagement goals.
Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, nonprofits, and local leaders to identify opportunities for collaboration.
Identify key organizations and strategic partnerships that align with Nordstrom’s brand values and customer interests.
Implement innovative engagement initiatives that enhance customer and employee connections to Nordstrom’s community efforts.
Employee Engagement:
Partner with the Social Impact team to create programs that enable employees to engage with organizations that matter to them.
Develop flexible volunteering options, including in-person, virtual, and skills-based volunteering, to meet employee needs and preferences.
Organize training sessions and provide resources to help employees maximize their impact while partnering with community organizations.
Monitor and report on employee engagement metrics to ensure alignment with Nordstrom’s goals and objectives.
Customer Engagement:
Build a community engagement strategy that enhances loyalty and connection for high-value customers (e.g., VICs and Loyalty Icons).
Plan and execute exclusive events and experiences for customers in partnership with community organizations.
Continuously seek innovative ways to engage customers through community involvement and align initiatives with current trends and expectations.
Operational Execution:
Plan and execute community-focused events, ensuring flawless delivery and alignment with Nordstrom’s values.
Partner with internal teams (e.g., PR, Social Impact, and Marketing) to ensure consistent messaging and execution of community engagement initiatives.
Support media outreach efforts for regional community events by drafting press materials and coordinating with media outlets as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field required.
5-7 years of experience in community engagement, corporate social responsibility, event management, or a related field.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations and stakeholders.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to execute multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across teams and stakeholders.
Passion for social impact and community engagement.
Experience in retail or fashion preferred but not required.
Familiarity with measurement tools and reporting metrics related to engagement initiatives.
Critical Experiences Gained:
Hands-on experience in community engagement and social impact strategy development.
Cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
Event planning and execution for both employee and customer audiences.
Media outreach and public relations for community-focused initiatives.
